Treadmill Purchase Guide – Part 2

1. Available Space to fit the Treadmill

In it explained in Treadmill Purchase Guide – Part 1

2.  Your Training Intensity

Purchasing a suitable treadmill is like other device and equipments highly related to your usage and need. For example, if you need a portable and light laptop, you would not a heavy and bulky gaming laptop.

Therefore, you should first realize what would be your usage from the treadmill and how intense do you want to use it. To clarify, you should decide that if you need the treadmill to walk in slow pace or to run with high speed.

Another factor that would narrow down your choices, is your weight. For example, imagine buying an office chair which should suit your weight, otherwise it will not function well or will be break easily.

By answering the two above questions, you can understand which treadmills will suit your need better. Because if you work out heavily, running with high speed or having more weight, then you will need a treadmill with more powerful motor, longer tracks and also wider Belt Width.

3. Your Budget

Like other purchase, one of the most important factor is your budget. There are many models of treadmills in the market that can full fill the needs of customers with different prices. We can categorize our budget lists in two main group:

Entry Level or Budget treadmills: including treadmills under 500 $, under 800$ and under 1,000$.

In general you should be very careful buying treadmills under 500$, because they usually do not provide warranties more than 90 days, and also they may not work for you for long and can be break down easily.

Talking about treadmills under 800$, although some of them in this list can work up to one year without any problem specially when being used only for walking, but it would be a hard task to find a high quality treadmill in this price list and they are not also appropriate for intense work out such as running with high speed. Moreover, because of their price range, they may lack of some features like wireless heart rate monitor or manual power incline.

You can find wide variety of treadmills for walking and jogging with the price around 1,000$. In this price they can have different workout programs as well as some features like 7-inches LCD display. Usually companies provide after-sell services for these price range for couple of years.

Better Quality, Most Popular and Premium Treadmills: including treadmills under 1,500$, under 2,000$ and over 2,000$

It can be said that the most popular treadmills being used at homes for runners and intense waling are ranged around 1,500$ having better features like programs provided by monitoring your heart rate or having better and more modern user interface.

The treadmills around 2,000$ are ideal for families with more members using the treadmill as these treadmills provide higher technology and better quality parts. They can provide not only a healthy, but also a comfortable workout experience.

And same as other purchase, there is always a premium group of devices. The treadmill pricing higher that 2,000$ are among this category. They have some special features for any types of needs. For example they have programs, features, and the equipments for fat-burning, Cardio, Marathon-runners and many other workouts. They also feature fancy and luxury design like large capacitive touch screens being able to be connected to TV or other entertaining systems, that the users can benefit from watching movies or hearing their favorite play list. As they cost more, they also offer better tracks and motor powers that can be used more intensely with more durability. Different technologies are being used in different part of these treadmills, like their connections that can be synced with smart watches to monitor and share your workout and giving you a pleasant experience by having long and wide belt and tracks.

Treadmill Purchase Guide

These days, because of Coronavirus that leads to a new situation making many people prefer not to take part in normal fitness classes or gyms.

Therefore, they seek into other ways of exercising and being healthy. One of the most common and safest way of exercising is having fitness equipments in homes. Treadmills are among the best fitness equipments as one of the best way to be in a good shape is to walk or run.

In this article we will talk about important factors in buying a treadmill and we divide the information into two main groups:

A. Your preferences and expectations

B. Treadmill specifications

A. Your preferences and expectations

There are many benefits in buying a treadmill for your home, such as its comfort of using. That is you can start your training without leaving home to a fitness gym. Apart from this, for the people who are interested in losing weight, using treadmill regularly is a very good tip for weight loss. In addition, you can walk or run whenever you want comfortably regardless of weather condition. No matter if it rains or snows outside, you can use your relax and comfortable spot of your home to start exercising.

In this section, we will explain the following steps as a guidance, so you can purchase a treadmill which suits your needs and budget.

1.       Available Space to fit the Treadmill

Treadmills are like other home furnitures, that is, you have to specify a proper space for them. It is important to choose a good place that has enough required space to put the treadmill. Therefore, the floor space of the dedicated space should be measured before deciding to check out the treadmills. As there are different types of treadmills in the market, in case of purchasing foldable treadmills, you need to measure the length, width and height of your desired storage space.

Having the available space dimensions can help you to narrow down your choices as in the treadmills dimensions are written in their specification.

One of the factors that can affect treadmills dimension is your main usage of it. If you want to mainly run on the treadmill, you will need a wider treadmill such as 22″ treadmill belt width. If you mainly use treadmill for walking, 20″ treadmill belt width is a good choice, although it can also be used for running but would be less comfortable.

Another part of treadmill which should be considered is its belt length. In General, for walking you need at least 50″ belt length and 55″ for running. In addition for people taller than 6′, 60″ belt length is recommended.

By gathering the above information and the available space at home, you can go to the next step of considering the treadmill sizes. Nowadays, companies are manufacturing treadmills for various scenarios from foldable and compact treadmills for people living in small apartments to desk treadmills. However, the dimensions should be considered carefully for any types of treadmills, because as an example, the foldable treadmills may require big space while being in use. Generally speaking, most of standard treadmill being used in homes have 7′ length and 3′ width.

LED-TV

LED-TV

TV Purchase Guide – Display Technology : LED

Following up the previous articles that there were about choosing the correct display technology that can meet your needs. Since now, we have talked about CRT (Cathode-Ray tube) and LCD (Liquid Crystal Display).

In this article we will explain LED display technology but in order to understand LED displays better we should review the LCD technology.

The reason is that they operate similar to each other. As it was mentioned, LCDs use two light filters to polarize the light and as these filters are perpendicular to each other, the light cannot be displayed on the screen.

If you want to experience the aforementioned effect you can simply experience it with two sun glasses.

As sun glasses use the polarization effect to filter the sun light in order to protect our eyes against the ultraviolet waves, if you see the light passing through one sun glasses, the light would be darker than natural light.

Now try to position the second sun glasses parallel with the first one that the light can pass through both of them. Now the light would be even darker than the previous step.

Now we come to the most interesting part of our experiment. Now we should rotate 90 degrees the second sun glasses and position it perpendicular to the first one. You will see that in this situation you cannot see anything and the light will be blocked with these two perpendicular filters (sun glasses).

This is exactly what happens in LCD and LED displays. That is two light filters are placed perpendicular to each other a liquid crystal is located between these two filters. The role of the liquid crystal is to rotate all of the light or a portion of the light according to the applied electric  filed.

Till now, the procedure of generating pictures are similar between LCD and LED and it was the reason we explain in another way how these types of displays work. But, now we should explain the difference between these two models.

The main difference that makes a big difference between LCD and LED displays is the type of backlight being used. Actually as it was mentioned before, LED is a type of LCD with a different type of backlight. LCDs use CCFL which is stands for cold-cathode fluorescent lamp to emit the light to the liquid crystal layer. But, LED displays use LEDs to generate light. LED stands for light emitting diodes that they as a semiconductors have some benefits which make them very popular these days.

Now that we realize what is exactly an LED display is, we can understand the difference between LCDs and LED.

First, as LEDs are smaller in size, the display can be thinner than LCD display.

Not only this, LEDs are much more efficient and that is the reason they are now being used in many applications because of their energy efficiency.

Because of the characteristic of LEDs, they can emit light that can have higher contrast which makes it possible to use these types of displays in open door situation or in sun light.

In some type of LED displays, there is no liquid crystal display and the LEDs themselves create pictures of the screen and it can be done with RGB (Red Green Blue) colors . That is, each pixel contains these 3 colors and each color is generated by an LED.

Now we can understand why it is said that LED displays can display better dark color or has a better contrast. To understand this difference, we should consider how black color is generated in both LCD and LED displays.

In LCD displays, the color black is would be shown on screen, when all the lights are blocked by the filters which means when no electric field is applied to the liquid crystal. Therefore, there is actually light there, but it is tried to be blocked by the filters. And it is the reason that in LCD, the blacks are not completely black and they seem like to be dark blue.

In comparison, in the LED, black color means that the LEDs are actually tuned off. That is the reason that there is no light and there will be a better black color and also better contrast.

LCD-display

TV Purchase Guide – Display Technology : LCD

In the previous article we explained what CRT displays are and how they work.

As we have mentioned, one of the factors of purchasing a television is choosing the right kind of display technology. For a reminder, we will take a look at the major display technologies as follows:

  • CRT
  • LCD (LED is a derivative of LCDs as LED backlit LCD)
  • Plasma
  • OLED

In this article we will explain more about LCDs.

LCD Displays

First of all we should know that LCD stands for Liquid-Crystal display that the name gives you some idea about how do LCDs work.

It should be noted that these types of displays are among the most popular ones in the world and there are some reasons for this popularity that we will tell them later.

LCDs produce pictures by using liquid-filled crystals. The reason is the characteristic of liquid crystals that they can generate pictures by being placed between backlight and the display screen. This means that in a LCD display, existence of a backlight is necessary.

In General the LCD itself does not produce light but their light-modulating characteristic make it possible to produce colorful or in monochrome pictures.

The applications of their usage are so vast from smart phones to Televisions. The reason is that their screen sizes can vary from a tiny watch display to big TV screens.

It can be said that LCDs are a technology between CRT and OLEDs. That is, almost in most of the applications they have been used instead of CRTs and then OLEDs are now more in trend and they are being used instead of LCDs. But, it should mentioned that as OLEDs uses phosphorous, they suffer from screen burning that this is a benefit in LCD that they experience this issue rarely.

To know more about how does LCDs work we should explain the process of polarization. Light in space can move in any directions and it is called unpolarized light, but when filters would be used, we can produce polarized light.

This is one of the part of a LCD displays that the first filter is used for polarization. A second filter is also being used perpendicular to the first filter, therefore the light cannot pass through the second filter. This is the step that we use liquid-crystal that can rotate the polarized light when an electric field being applied. It can be said that by using two light filters, the liquid-filled crystals work like a switch that they can turn on or turn off the display being shown. And this can be done by applying an electric filed to this part to make it work.

In order to produce a colorful picture, color filters should be used as the second filter to produce Red, Green and Blue. It means that by applying various amount of voltage to each pixels, it can produce a colorful pixel with its levels.

Till now, we have a general idea about how these LCD display works and as we will explain later about LEDs, it is worth mentioning again that one the benefits in LCDs is that they do not suffer from screen burning. Screen burning happens in OLED display and rarely in LCD. It will happen when a picture without any movement displayed for a long time. This is the reason that in most of the televisions and computers, by default there is an optioned called screen saver. Screen saver shows a picture of an animation that moves all around the display to prevent the LCD from burning effect.

Another benefits of LCDs is that they are much thinner and more compatible than CRT displays which make it possible to use these displays in various applications.

TV Purchase Guide – Display Technology

TV Purchase Guide – Display Technology

In the previous articles we have considered the factors that affect the distance of the television position to the viewers such as resolution. These are the fundamental points that should be considered before purchasing a TV.

After the previous step, now it is time to know more about the technologies used in televisions, their comparison and their pros and cons. The main display technologies having been used are as follows:

  • CRT
  • LCD (LED is a derivative of LCDs as LED backlit LCD)
  • Plasma
  • OLED

In this article, we will explain more about CRT technology.

CRT stands for Cathode Ray Tube and these types of displays work as follows:

There is a vacuum tube that contains a phosphorescent surface and the images can be produced, when an electron beam hit the phosphorescent surface.

In this process the electron gun is responsible to produce the electron beams and the beams then will be accelerated to hit the screen.

Many devices and gadgets are now using the produced pictures with this method such as oscilloscope (in waveforms), pictures ( in televisions or monitors) and radars.

There is an important short form written as RGB that is being used in most of displays. RGB stands for Red, Green and Blue. And it means that every picture that is being shown on displays are created with these 3 colors.

But the question is that, how does it work and how 3 colors can create many colors and pictures?

In order to know better how CRT works, imagine that you want to paint a wall in purple color. The only colors that you have are green and blue. We know that if we mix green and blue together we can make a purple color and its final color depends on the proportion that we mix from green and blue. This is exactly how different colors and pictures are made in different displays.

Another thing that we should explain is that each electron gun generates one color. Therefore, in order to have RGB colors, we need 3 electron guns. That is, we need one electron gun for the red color, one for blue and one for green.

In this step, we have 3 main colors produced by electron gun to be emitted to the screen. The question is that how each of these individual beams can be guided to its correct position on the screen. Moreover, how they can be accelerated to hit the screen.

In order to achieve the two above task, we need other components in the vacuum tube.

First, we need Anodes to accelerate the electron beams.  Then, we need some coils called deflecting coins creating a low frequency magnetic field to guide and adjust the electron beam.

Since for adjustment of the beam we need to have access to change its direction horizontally and also vertically, therefore, we need two sets of deflecting coils. In this stage a small light spot can be seen on the screen when the electron beam hit the screen.

Now in order to produce a complete picture, a set of signals are applied to the system and the electron guns starts emitting electron beams constantly to the screen and by the guidance of deflecting coils, these beams hit the screens and they create spots from right to left and top to bottom.  The process of scanning systemically in sequence of horizontal linesis also called the raster.

The question is that how the human eyes see pictures instead of these light spots?

The answer is that these processes take place in such a fast way that the human eyes can not distinguish the time difference between each process and it sees in total a complete picture. If you want to understand it better, you can remember the game that we have played when we were younger. We draw multiple pictures in papers and each of the new picture with a tiny difference. When we start turn the pages rapidly, we see a moving animation. This is the example of how most of the displays show us images.

In the next articles we will explain about other display technologies and at the end we will compare these technologies with each other.

TV Purchase Guide – TV Size

TV Purchase Guide – TV Size

One of the most parameters that we should decide before purchasing a television, is defining what size is more suitable for our place. Although part of this decision depends on our preference, but other part is related to some standards which is recommended to take into account when purchasing a TV.

The technology is developing very fast as well as the televisions. That is, these days people can buy televisions with bigger and higher screen quality with less money. Their technologies have been also changed that we will explain different TV technologies from LCD TVs to LED TVs in our next articles.

But in this article our focus is on choosing the best television size which suits us better.

Many people just buy the television without checking if the TV is suitable for the desired place or not. They just think they can place the new TV to their previous TV spot without considering their technology differences, their screen size and also their tendency to watch in a big screen. Therefore, it is important to identify the appropriate TV size in the beginning.

The rule is the same and as we may use the televisions in various places, such as in living rooms, bedrooms, kitchen and many more places. Therefore, we can use this method to know which size is the best to that desired space as follows:

  • Television Resolution and Television Size
  • Designated Space and Television Placement
  • Defining The most Suitable Television Size for Your Desired Space

Television Resolution and Television Size

First we should know what does Resolution means. When you are talking about display resolution, you define the number of each pixels to each dimension. Therefore higher resolution means more pixels. To clarify, if you have a television with higher resolution, you sit closer to the TV without noticing the pixels. For example, if you have 8K Television, you can sit closer to it in comparison to a 4K television, therefore you are not required to buy a big display to fulfill the need of watching in a vast field of view.

Apart from this, many of us may make a mistake defining television size and dimensions to screen size.

  • Television size and dimensions: Actual TV size meaning its width and its length. For example the dimension of a 55-inches TV can be approximately 49 inches length and 29 inches width.
  • Screen size: Measuring the distance between top left of the TV to the bottom right of it or measuring the distance between top right of the TV to the bottom left of it (Corner to Corner)

Designated Space and Television Placement

There are some factors which can affect your choice about the size of the TV you want to buy. For example, if the setting of the room in which you will place your TV can be changed. It means, if can you change the decoration or change the position of the furnitures. Because in this case you can have more flexibility to choose the size of your TV. Imagine a situation that the room is too small or the furnitures are attached to the ground, then you only had one choice of calculating and defining the distance and buy only that specific TV size.

Not only this, but also the setting that you want to install the TV will also affect your decision. For example, if you want to install the TV with the included stands on a TV table, then it would be closer to the viewers. Therefore a smaller television should buy in comparison to a situation that you want to mount a TV on a Wall. Because when you mount a TV on a wall will add more than one foot distance to the viewers, that this amount of extra distance can change your decision to buy a 72-inches TV instead of 60-inches TV.

Defining The most Suitable Television Size for Your Desired Space

As it was mentioned in previous section, one of the key factors in defining the size of TV is its resolution and then its distance to the viewer.

Therefore, we will take the following steps:

  1. First base on our situation meaning our room size and the placed furnitures, we have to measure the distance between the desired TV position and the place that viewers will sit.
  2. After measuring the distance, then we have to calculate the TV size based on the resolutions. For 1080 TV resolution there is a specific formula which is slightly different from 4K TV resolution.

After doing the two above steps, now we should refer to one of the most trusted sources which is Amazon. It is recommended for 1080 televisions a distance of 1.5 to 2.5 times screen size. For example if the TV resolution is 1080 with 40-inches screen, the distance should be between 60 to 100 inches equal to 5 to 8.3 feet.

However, it is not the only formula and there are many other recommendations by experts that we also can let you know about them in our future articles.

For example based on Crutchfield, for 4K Ultra HD TVs it is recommended a distance closer than 1 to 1.5 times of the screen size. For example, if you want to buy a 55-inches TV, you should sit in a distance between 4.6 to 6.9 feet to the TV.

For your comfort you can use the following tables based on the above formula to define the TV size:

1080 HD TVs

Screen Size (inches)

Viewing Distance (feet)

40 5 – 8.3
43 5.4 – 9
50 6.3 – 10.4
55 6.9 – 11.5
60 7.5 – 12.5
65 8.1 – 13.5
70 8.75 – 14.6
75 9.4 – 15.6
80 10.0 – 16.7
85 10.6 – 17.7

4K Ultra HD TVs

Screen Size (inches)

Viewing Distance (feet)

40 3.3 – 5
43 3.6 – 5.4
50 4.2 -6.3
55 4.6 – 6.9
60 5 – 7.5
65 5.4 – 8.1
70 5.8 – 8.75
75 6.3 – 9.4
80 6.7 – 10

7 Questions that should be answered before mounting TV on Wall

Many of us may be well aware of the benefits installing TVs by mounting them on the wall. However, there are some key factors that should be considered before starting this process. In order to clear these important points, the following point should be examined:

  1. Dedicated place for other units and components
  2. Cord management
  3. Can your wall bear TV mounting?
  4. Installing the TV mount in a dangerous spot
  5. Needed tools to mount TV on a wall
  6. Accessibility of the ports
  7. Required TV angles

Now we explain one by one the above points:

1. Dedicated place for other units and components

Most of us have other devices like DVD or Blu-ray player, game consoles, sound bar or sound systems, receiver and may be more that should be near and connected to the TV. The problem would be that the cords of these devices should have access to the output of TV. Therefore a set up should be designed to let these component placed near the TV being mounted on the wall.

There would be some good solutions for this matter like placing a movable setting under the TV that can float easily. Another solution can be like simply installing a shelf under the TV so the other devices can be placed on it. A big hole can be drilled in the rear side of the shelf so the cords can be connected from TV to the components.

2. Cord management

One of the main concern in setting up a wall mount TV is the bad and messy look of the cords
and cables being connected from other devices to the TV. In addition, if no other components are
connected to the TV, still it should be plugged to the wall socket.

If the above situations would not be ok for you, the following solutions would solve the problem:

  • The cables can be installed through the wall by a handyman or an expert
  • In order to hide the cord, a power supply can be designed behind the wall, so no cables can be seen.
  • In the market there are many products called cord-hider that can cover the cables or give a better look to them

3. Can your wall bear TV mounting

One of the most prominent factors in setting up a TV wall mount is to be sure if the wall can handle the weight. Although TVs have become so thin and light these days, but still it is heavier than the biggest part of the mounting frame.

Therefore, a location that can bear the weight of the TV and the mounting structures should be found needing one to two studs in order to anchor the screws. In order to locate the place to install the TV, the studs should be found by a stud finder. Be noted that by using drywall anchors to mount and place a TV on the wall, the TV may fall to the ground as the anchors would become loos and taken off the drywall.

4. Installing the TV mount in a dangerous spot

In general there are some important factors that should be considered regarding the electronic devices. The most important of them are heat and humidity (water) in a short distance of TV. Therefore, as an example, although it looks modern and stylish to mount a TV above a fireplace, but because of the heat that would damage the electronic components in TV, bad viewing angle and also more time and cost consuming place to mount the TV, it is better to avoid this location.

5. Needed tools to mount TV on a wall

Skills are important in any situation, but other than skills, you will need proper tools in order to install the TV on a wall. These tools are including ladder, the mounting frame and the structures, stud finder, drill, screw driver, drill and screwdriver bit.

6. Accessibility of the ports

Before buying any mounting structures, you should first where are the ports are located on your TV. If they are located on the back of the TV, you need a type of wall mount that can telescope outward in order to give you better access to the ports. It makes the process of connecting or disconnecting a new device to your TV more convenient.

7. Required TV angles

Another important factor is knowing the angles that are required after mounting the TV. Since during the day, the Sun changes its position, you may also need an adjustable mount to rotate the TV in a direction to eliminate or decrease glare.

Different Types of Air Condition Systems

air-conditioner

Different Types of Air Condition Systems

As it was explained in our previous article, we know how the AC systems work and also some of their basic functions. If you could not read it, you can check that out.

Choosing the right type of air conditioning highly depends on our requirements and needs. For example, the size of our desired area is one of the parameters that affects our final decision.

Next would be the weather and temperature condition of that area. It means that some parameters like the humidity, temperature and how sensitive the area is against sun shine and warmth.

Apart from these, it is also important to define how smart should your air condition system be. Meaning that if it works automatically or should be set manually and also how many features and options it should give you.

In this article, we will take a look at the following Air Conditioners:

1. Split Air Conditioners

These types of air condition systems are mounted on a wall and each one of the systems contains two units. Each of these two units has a specific role in cooling our homes and therefore each of them contains special components.

In split AC, one unit should be installed outside of the desired area containing compressor, condenser coil and expansion coil. This unit should be mounted on the wall from exterior.

However, the second unit containing a cooling coil and air filter should be mounted on the wall from inside the room.

As the outside and inside units are linked with wires and tubes, this type of AC system is a good choice for homes since the exterior unit containing compressor and fan is located outside of the home and less or no noise can be heard from inside.

2. Packaged AC Systems

In this type of air conditioner, instead of using conventional two separate units, it only consists of one unit. Therefore, this unit contains both the condenser and cooling systems. This system can be installed on the exterior wall or on the roof.

This system is the right choice for large houses and commercial buildings, since it can generate more heat or cold.

The system works as the main unit is connected to the rooms through some paths. By a fan inside of this system, it can absorb the hot air and by passing it through a coil filled with refrigerant, it cools the air and then through the paths pushes to the room.

3. Central AC Systems

For large homes, offices, big buildings and gyms, this system can be a good choice. Since these systems can cool a wast area very fast and efficiently, they are very popular these days.

The function of this system is like other air conditioners. By using a compressor in the exterior side of the building it cools the air by passing it through a cold evaporator coil and circulates it through the ducts to the rooms.

4. Window AC

These relatively inexpensive, simple and compact air conditioners are ideal to be used for a single room.

These compact systems being fixed along the lower part of the window, contains all the components to push out hot air from the room while blowing cold air into it.

5. Portable AC

These portable air conditioning units can be installed in any place depending on your needs as they are very compact, small and light. It does not need any skills to be installed and can push out the hot air from the room.

Conclusion

We have gathered the fundamental information to give you an insight about Air Conditioning Systems. But, there are some critical points that should be noticed while installing these units. In another article we will explain more how to install these systems and the required tools and equipments.

Our team in Xingman is always there for you to give you the best recommendations regarding your home situation and requirements to choose the right Air Conditioner.
On the other hand, we can also offer you its installation being done by our skilled handymen.
